The Times-Picayune Wins Remarkable Two Pulitzer Prizes: Public Service and Breaking News Coverage.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune was awarded Pulitzer prizes for Public Service and Breaking News, two of journalism's highest honors, for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the flooding of New Orleans.
"Congratulations to the entire staff - to all the people in the newsroom, production, circulation, advertising - who overcame unbelievable obstacles in their personal and professional lives to produce the kind of journalism that is vital for their battered community," said Susan Feeney, one of four trustees of The Times-Picayune Relief Fund. "The Pulitizer Board recognized the newspaper’s amazing daily and investigative journalism in the face of great personal hardship."
