The Washington media and political communities came together on January 25, 2007 to raise money for The Friends of the Times-Picayune Relief Fund. The public relations firm LipmanHearne, led by partner Rodney Ferguson, and the National Press Foundation co-sponsored the event which raised $25,000 to benefit the fund's 189 recipients.
Those who want to make a tax-deductible contribution should send checks payable to the National Press Foundation and earmarked for the Katrina Fund.
